6 or 12 volt on Model 50

I am about to acquire a '61 Model 50. I know it has a 12v battery at the moment but is this original?

No. Hopefully it has had a properly implemented upgrade to 12 volts. I would certainly recommend sticking with a 12 volt setup.

I totally agree. My m50 runs 12v. It is much easier to buy 12v bulbs when one inevitably fails plus there is a better choice of batteries.

One reservation which may be unique to my bike is that the capacitor does not seem to last as long.

Is the conversion a complex process?
