Hi everyone,
Winter is still keeping the bikes undercover. Have had a couple of sunny warm days in the last couple of weeks to get the bikes out.
My Dominator 88 have had this annoying drip/leak coming from the right exhaust. I have looked under the exhaust it self, and have not been able to track it back to source...
It seems to be gear box oil, but i keep checking the gearbox levels, and it seems to be fine and always at the correct level.. and i have had the externor O ring seal changed recently before the lay up, as it was leaking a bit more than i like. The previous leak have slowed down at the Kickstarter, but now this...
It basically does a few drips a day. With a cloth under the exhaust, it is noticeable and rather annoying.
Anyone got any ideas where else to look? I know it's an old bike, and i should expect some leaks...
Thanks.
Rich.

Hi Anna,
Good note. I'll check the inner gasket. But oil levels remains fine in the gearbox, which is the weird thing...

A loose or grooved exhaust…
A loose or grooved exhaust valve guide will blow oil into the pipe and it can leak out at the silencer joint.

So I'm back once again after looking over the leak.
Seems it IS still coming from where the Kickstarter lever is, a slow drip.
I have already changed the washer on the outside , so I'm assuming there is another one on the inside? Is there a way to solve this permanently? It's just annoying to have it dripping.
Again, the weird thing is... The oil level has not gone down dramatically... Still at where the drain hole bolt level.
Cheers.

Norton spares suppliers stock a quadring seal that fits instead of the O ring . It stopped any Kickstart leak from my 60 dommy.

As Robert above I too fitted the special x/quad ring and it cured my leak.
Available from RGM for £2.20 as a gearbox set (5 pieces).

Thanks Robert and Bob,
I ordered and replaced it with the X ring as advised. Found the recently replaced O ring already ripped. Hope this will be a good fix. I have a spare O ring in hand if it doesn't solve the problems.
Fingers crossed!
