since buying my m50 I have been frustrated by a gap of 1/4" or so between the fork seal cover and the fork cover. This allows the fork stanchion to be visible when on the centre stand. When in use it is covered.

Tonight I removed the left fork bottom as the usual breakage was evident at the pinch bolt. It is a good opportunity to put right the fork spacing problem in addition to alloy welding the fork bottom.

is it possible the chrome stanchions are too long or is there something I have not considered? The covers seem in good condition.

thanks

No.they are fully connected. I have removed it in one piece as I left the leg in the yolks, just removing the slider. Thanks for the suggestion though..damper too long maybe? How long are they?

Some joker has used stainless studding instead of a bolt on the lower yolk so I have yet to remove it.The nut securing it is 1/2" wide hence too long to use in conjunction with a second nut to ease out the stud.

On full fork extension, my Dominator does that too. I'm fairly confident that all the fork parts are original, apart from the fork bushes. This is only visible on the centre stand. Don't worry about it.
