Hello.
Does anyone know the correct size for the larger rocker box bolts on my '51 model 18? I think there are 7 of them (cycle thread). I bought a set of stainless ones from motalia as mine are odd and dog eared and they seem very tight in the threads. they measure 7.9mm whereas the originals are about 0.2mm smaller although the tooth form looks right.
I really just want to know the correct size so that i can get a tap and die set to clean everything up.
Thanks, Colin.

Hello Colin,
Not sure of the size of rocker box bolts, but I bought some 5/16 cycle thread studs from Motalia and they were really tight too. I then bought some from RGM and they were perfect. I rang Motalia and they said that the threads in the frame lugs must have been stretched and I should run a tap through. I had tried other 5/16 bolts as well as the RGM ones and they all screwed in easily so doubted this was true. I think Motalia must have a problem with their machining.
Regards, Bill
Thanks for the information Bill.I had a feeling the bolts where to blame as when I measured them they varied.Colin.
