Dear All,
I am looking for some new cylinder base nuts 3/8" cycle nuts (similar to dome nuts) would anyone know where one could get these from? Also most of the plated bits on this motor are neither chrome nor nickel plated, I believe it's called argenised, a sort of matt chrome finish. Does anyone know if this sort of finish is still available at the platers and what should one ask for?
Many thanks,

The finish used on the majority of Norton fasteners until well into the 1950's, and possibly later, is dull chrome. Ken Macintosh of Mackintosh Racing in New Zealand is the only person I know of who can copy the finish exactly, he uses it on fasteners he supplies.
Similar, but not quite the same is satin chrome, specialist car/motorcycle platers such as Derby Plating can do this on your existing fasteners if they are in good condition. Another option I have used is to get Will Horgan of Stainless Classics to copy original fasteners in stainless steel, then I blast them with fine glass beads. It looks almost the same as dull chrome.
