Commando wiring harness - White/purple

Forums

I'm restoring a 1973 850 Interstate.

The leads down to the Zener diode have melted and I'm planning to ft a Swiss 790 (Royal Enfiel) regulator rectifier in place of the original Zener diode and rectifier set-up.

While I have the rear part of the harness apart, I've discovered some 'spare' wires that I'd like to strip out to reduce the bulk of the harness.

I have a white/red and a white/purple terminating just behind the oil tank.  I assume the white/red is for the starter motor, (which I don't have), but the white/purple isn't in any of the wiring diagrams that I've checked.  Any ideas what it was intended for, or where it goes???

This is the connection between the Ballast resistor and the ignition coils. The W/P in the area of the oil tank would have been a connection to the starter solenoid to take out the ballast resistor on a MkIII with twin points. Electronic Ignition and non starter models make this wire redundant.
