Horrors!

Has anyone else come across these heavy duty American isolastics before? (first picture). These were in the repatriated 750 my brother is doing at the moment...... They had also assembled the gearbox adjuster incorrectly resulting in a squashed cradle and of course the obligatory pinched down tubes from the fitting of those lovely "Highway pegs".

Does anyone else have any good horror stories, there must be loads out there!

I once had an Ariel Red Hunter with a bit of steering head play, on examination it had turned brass rings in there instead of ball bearings! Why would anyone go to the trouble of turning up some brass rings when ball bearings cost literally pence.

Any more horror stories out there please?

I bought a Garden Gate ES2 sight unseen from the Motherland and had it shipped across the pond to the former Colonies- absolutely delighted in it in every way - a very honest dealer . After a bit it became a little noisy in the timing chest area . Seems the key for the halftime pinion had worn a bit and rather then spend a few pennies for a new one the DPO had simply bashed it a bit on the flat side to widen it again . Worked well enough I suppose for the briefest of time-
