Measure the distance the holes are apart and compare it to the OD of the race, should confirm that they are for knocking the bearing out. But you need to heat the case first, bung it in the oven set to 175 or use a heat gun/blowlamp and heat the case until spit bounces off. Usually the races come out by then banging the case onto a wooden bench, use oven gloves when doing this. If the outer race has been loctited in, the heat breaks the loctites bond down. Don't punch the race out with the case cold.

I agree with Peter. I use a heat gun, because it heats the case locally and not as agressive as a torch. The oven idea is also another way. My wife would be pissed if I used our oven. She is already mad at me for using the dishwasher to clean parts. LOL.
