Side stand for a 1938 Model 18 rigid frame

Is there a side stand for the Model 18 Rigid frame?

Hi Ross,

Following on from Ian's suggestion, side stands were first fitted as standard equipment in 1950, and if you want to fit one to your bike there are a couple of issues. You will need a singles type because the Model 7 has a different mounting lug. The singles one has the same crankcase holes as your 1938 engine but you need an extra support plate because the way your frame fits the engine. this plate needs to span all 3 front engine bolts or you will risk breaking the alloy lug on the bottom bolt. Also as the girder forks are shorter than teles the stand length might need altering. There are at least 2 different lengths of these. On my pre-war bike I have a telescopic EsWay side stand and these are now being reproduced by    www.vintele.co.uk   but cost over £120.
