Flasher - solid state, works with either +ve or -ve earth

Forums

I have just replaced the antiquated Lucas turn signal flasher with a solid state one that works with either + or - earth systems.

Forgive me if this isn't news to those in the NOC more experienced than I. I mistakenly had previously purchased another brand flasher from another vendor that would not work with our + earth Commandos.

It's the Custom Dynamics Standard DOT Flasher - EDFR from Dennis Kirk.

I do not work for Dennis Kirk nor do I get any compensation of any kind.

It sells for USD24.95 or GBP17.66 and fits nicely replacing the original Lucas metal clip that held the Lucas flasher. Simply clip off the supplied connector and replace with straight bladed male insulated connectors and your done.

Dennis Kirk offer many lower cost flashers. I opted to buy this more expensive one as they assured it would work "with all ......." systems. They also claim it will work with LED's -- have not verified as my Commando is still fitted with conventional 1156 (US convention) bulbs.

They were correct in that statement. Smile

Note:This flasher is particular about which way it is connected to the Commando wiring. One way and the flashers come on but don't flash. Reverse the wires and it flashes reliably about once every second.

Before you bankrupt us with your suggestions ;)

The subject was covered before

The one I recommended is electronic rather than the heat activated Lucas original, so the flash rate is constant and unaffected by your voltage dropping as you sit ticking over at the lights waiting for green and being able to turn.
