Afternoon All,
The decompressor lever on my Big 4 has ceased to stop the engine lately. On inspection it is not lifting the valve. It looks like that if it rotated a little further it would. There is some wear on the lifter, does not look too bad but I am not a good judge.
I am unable to further take apart the lifter - see photo, is it possible to remove the arm from the spindle and reposition it so the valve is lifted higher? I have tried to free the arm to no avail.
The whole mechanism is not helped by the casting the valves sit in wiggling about a bit - how is this remedied? The head is down tight enough.
Many thanks
Dave

I have split the assembly…

I have split the assembly using heat and a hammer but cannot get it to lift the valve. I think it may be wear preventing it as it will lift with the unworn edge (rotating it the wrong way) so a new spindle which I see the NOC shop has could be the answer.
