Early Jubilee headlight

Forums

I am desperatly looking for a headlight chrome ring for my 1959 Jubilee Deluxe.

The headlamp shell has a diameter of approx. 5 1/2 half inch. A Lucas 5 3/4 inch rim is

definetly too big.

Also one of these small Wipac headlight pips is missing.

Any sources?

Hello Dan,

this looks good. As mentioned I am looking for the chrome ring and reflector with glass

My headlamp shell does not have this big hole at the bottom.

I have a later bigger headlamp shell ( 6 inch?) but I am afraid without chrome ring.

I have an NOC replica reflector with lens for it which is not legal over here because

it has no stampings or the "E" sign on it.

Hi Uli

my chrome ring is approx 14mm so should fit, the chrome is good but it does have a small dent which I think someone with more skill than me can make come out. The glass is good but the reflector has lost some of its sparkle! I think they can be techromed. Im happy to swap them for your later shell if it’s 6 1/2 inches (165mm). The only other obstacle is postage and possible tax? The 6 1/2 in rims are available here.  Do you need E markings on classic lights in Germany?  How would they know it wasn’t original?  dan Reflector

If it is an original lens and there are some markings or numbers on it- all good.

Replica lenses without any markings are not accepted.

I sent you a private message for further conversation.

On the Electra we have/had the same issue. As it happens I found something from the Japanese motorcycle world to fit. It is made by Stanley, marked E4 and indicates left dip, and takes an H4 lamp! It Works well.

Alan, yes the Stanley ones fit the later headlamp, (I had one back in the day) but even they are getting harder to find now!

Uli has tried the Lucas rim, it’s too big, if you look at my shell you’ll see it’s a smaller version of the later shell, with two switches and an ammeter.

Incidentally, what FB is that, I think I have a spare pair of forks for one!

... and if I still had it I'd welcome the forks. Daft design aren't they? I struggled for ages getting the oil seal over the bushes.

Thanks to Dan I now have the headlight rim, reflector and glass for my Jubilee headlamp.

I am just trying to duplicate these small Wipac headlamp pips in resin. I made a two part mold

pressing the original pip into a Play-Doh "bed" and pouring moulding silicone over it.

The pic shows the first version.

Unfortunatly I did not use enough silicone for the second part of the mould and the mould broke while trying to take it apart to remove the pip and the pipes for the pouring channels. Now I am waiting for more silicone to arrive.
