Someone please tell me how I can remove the slip ring from the contact breaker assembly. I have tried levering, I have tried freezing with a frozen broccoli to contract it away from the magneto body.and left it to soak in WD40.

Rarely removed
The auto advance device deals with the timing adjustment by rotating the armature so the cam ring becomes a static item. It therefore will hardly ever need moving. J

Brightspark magnetos
Brightspark have drawings for a slip ring puller as a download. Be very careful as it is easy to damage the HT connection on the armature.

easing a slip ring
I have a very small pry bar (I think it's a Vaughans 222) which I used for this job. Just work your way round progressively, do not use large force.
If you want to use the heat spanner, remember that the housing is aluminium and the ring is steel, so gently heat the housing and it should come free. Cold will make the ring tighter.

Don't think it will just lever out, must be some form of locking/locating screw.
