The owners handbook says nothing as to quantity or where the level should be on my 31 Model 20.
I've filled the oil tank to the neck with an air gap showing..Does this sound correct ?
Can anyone actually see the oil returning? It is a different setup than my 36 ES2
Thanks
Ian

Not sure if this helps, but by 1936 Norton added a transfer to the oil tank to indicate the level. I like the way the transfer is parallel to the top slope of the tank and not to the bottom horizontal. Clearly they were not too precious about it. Overfilling will cause leaks, but I suspect modern oil doesn't froth as much as in the 30's. I have no evidence.
