1948 model 18 mudguard

Forums

Just wondering if somebody could help me please.

I've recently acquired and restoring a 1947 model 18. I'm not sure I have the correct front Mudguard I've fitted the guard and the front stays and bottom hoop and they seem to fit fine but it has a centre bridge piece with no other fittings, I have a centre hoop which is far too big for anything. Is the bridge piece correct for this model or should it just have stays or a hoop?

Any help would be much appreciated Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

I missed this post last week,, can you attach a photo or 2 of the guard and fork legs as these changed over the years and they may have got mixed up.

Hi Kevin

I have attached a photo of my mudguard. My Model 18 was made at end of 46, as a 47 model with teles. As you can see it needs restoration which I have recently started. Rear stay doubles up as stand, centre is of flat steel, front stays are round steel and two separate pieces. Hope this is of some use.

Hi Dean

Thanks for the photos. They're really helpful, I think I need to source the centre bridge fitting..

Regards Kev

Hi Dean,

Thanks  for that, looks like I have correct chain guard.

one last request do you have a picture of the fitting on the bottom of the front guard that holds the rear stay  (stand).
