TVS Norton New Models

I read with interest in Roadholder 436 page 3 that Norton are to "unveil new models soon". Does anyone know what the word "soon" means in this context? A while back I had heard new range was coming out in 2026 is that "soon"? Triumph seem to do a good job in announcing in advance of new bikes they are bringing to the market place.  This then means if you are interested in a new bike you might hold off looking at other Brands to see what one of your favourite brands has to offer. It would be good to have some idea of the "soon" near future bike range. regards Ian

Crit'Air

Seen conflicting info on this, it seems now that vehicles in France need a sticker. The conflict seems to be that vehicles not registered in France may need a sticker to use any road in France and not just the low emission zones. As you can see this would affect anyone travelling to the rally via France and and others using the Calais routes even if they are going elsewhere in Europe. It seems that classic motorcycles, pre 2000 are exempt - a good thing, but it suggests that these vehicles are not allowed in any of the zones at all.

Insurance companies

Recently a MK3 has been put back onto the road after having it's insurance category changed. Originally it was sold back to its owner and given a 'parts only' category despite the fact that the bike could have been repaired. The insurance company involved was not one that had knowledge of classics and just assumed that parts could not be obtained. The person doing the repairs challenged this and won the argument and as such the bike can be repaired and used on the road.

Hogslayer

NOCcer Fans of 1/4 mile racing will be delighted to hear that Hogslayer, the twin-engined Norton raced so successfully by Tom "TC" Christenson back in the 70's will again be pounding the asphalt at Santa Pod this summer.

According to Visordown, the bike is to be awakened from it's slumber at the NMM and prepared to race again at the Dragstalgia event there from Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th of July 2024.

Law suit against norton parts suppliers (Andover Norton - Press Release 27/02/24)

What, if any, will the club's stance be regarding the law suit against parts suppliers?

As a Norton owner for more than fifty years I have concerns about the continued supply and likely cost implications of the action outlined in the press release that was emailed to me today.

Press Release

This morning Andover Norton posted a Press Release hinting at an issue regarding infringement of rights. It looks like ANIL are about to square up against Norvil in a legal boxing ring. Whatever next???   surely April 1st isn't for another month.

new director

I QUOTE FROM THE NEWS FEED

Submitted by Smith Webmaster on Sat, 17/02/2024 All Members,     I’m very pleased to announce a new Director for the Club – Amanda Clarke.     Amanda started on the trade ads for Roadholder some months ago, as an Officer of the Club and has done a great job in fixing our backlog debt and fostering relationships with those companies that advertise with us.

New member

My name is Jim Sadler and I recently joined the NOC having acquired a 1969 Commando Fastback.

I am listed as Adrian Sadler with the NOC but I loathe my first name, Adrian, and have always used my second, James.

That's the whingeing out of the way.

Insurance beware

I am trying to get quotes for my renewal and got a good quote from PJ via the club scheme, however I have a modern bike as well and it was high when you include it in the mix. I thought I had nothing else to do but to get another policy for my modern bike but because I have a classic policy it appears that I have not accrued a no claims bonus.
