Long shot - please does any one know where I can buy a latch for prewar tool box for my 1937 16H? It's just an old fashioned smallish suitcase / briefcase latch. The type with a side pull button holding a flip down latch. Possibly by Cheney locks whose successor company seems to sell a huge variety but wholesale only as far as I can tell. Can't find what I want anywhere on the web - nor in charity shops etc.

Thanks Peter and Paul.I'll have to spend more time (even more) looking - and maybe find out where leather carvers do buy their accessories. Annoyingly, the old-fashioned compressed fibre type cases they appear on are becoming more fashionable! And even more annoying: we have one in the house that I could use but "It's Grandma's and has her old keep-sakes in it"!

In the absence of a genuine latch, an eBay search for "old suitcase" throws up dozens of likely cheap sources that I would think could be easily adapted.
I have recently refurbished the lock on my own 1936 16H which looks very like some of the ones seen above.
