Swing arm bushes on a 55 dominator

Forums

Been awhile since I removed the silentbloc bushes from the swing arm, seem to remember lots of smoke and fire, ok refitting how do you do it at home no press. I was thinking to insert the central spacer then place a bush both end and use a threaded bar to draw them into place. Anyone agree it will work or know any other methods. Thanks in advance

Having experienced how difficult it was to remove the swing arm bushes, I doubt that a threaded bar will work. It will need to be only about half an inch diameter to go through the bushes. I think the bar will snap before the bushes go in even a few millimetres. Better to find someone with a press, even if it means paying to get the job done. I had mine put in by a guy with a 20-ton press - it took less than 10 minutes.

They must be an interference fit to be so hard to fit.  quiz question what is the only Norton part you never see secondhand.

to be honest I don’t know why I removed them they looked fine but I wanted all new

Have a BSA B40 with much swingarm play. 1 mm radial and 1/2 mm axial. Found the silentblocs was in perfect condition, PO had not tightened the axle enough so the swingarm was free to move and worn the axle. A new axle + shimming axial play solved it.
