Norton Motorcycles UK

Hello there,

Does anyone have any up to date news on Norton Motorcycles UK.?

I ask this question as a check on Companies House website shows that the accounts for the financial year to 31st March 2014 have NOT been filed at Companies House and the company is now in breach of the Companies Act for late filing. Accounts are now listed as Overdue.

Bearing in mind that the accounts to 31st March 2013 showed a desperately poor financial situation this could mean extremely bad news. What is the local news? I personally have definitely decided not to acquire a Norton 961.

Thank you for this very interesting information. I now notice from Company House records that the replacement secretary appointed in Feb 2014 has now ceased his appointment as well. They do appear to have a problem in retaining their staff.

Posts like this give me the runs!!!!

Norton is a small, new company trying to revive an iconic brand. They have had all sorts of issues with financing, production and reliability and other items. This is all to be expected.

It seems to me you should buy a Yamaha rather than a Norton. They are cheaper, more reliable and the company is much more financially stable than Norton. Or buy a Honda or Suzukii!!!

Sorry "Chicken Little" but I really have no interest in what your purchasing plans are!

but, buy with caution ;) . . . .

I think this is the same poster that put this info on the Access Norton website. Another s**t stirrer that doesnt own a 961....

However I'm glad you arent buying a 961, as it sounds like it isnt the bike for you. Enjoy your invisible interchangeable Japanese multi. We will carry on enjoying our bikes and supporting Norton.

With regard to the loss of two company secretaries, I am reminded of Oscar Wilds 'The Importance of being Earnest

"To lose one parent, Mr Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness."?

Now that you have "definitely decided not to acquire a Norton 961," maybe you can stop showing such an interest in the bikes and the company's financials. Oh, by the way, oil prices are expected to rise again, I would "definitely decide" to sell all my petrol machines if I were you.

Hold on.....

Isn't it in all of our best interest that Norton Motorcycle UK be financially sound? I am not saying that it is not, but their inability to retain an accountant is problematic at best. No news releases from Norton in this regard?

Wouldn't it be nice if Norton updated their news section a bit more often so that those that support them and fly the flag , I'm one of them, wouldn't have to read all the negative comments! Long live Norton !

Trouble is, it seems that no matter what you write about, on any Nortonsubject, whether good, bad or indifferent, whether it is intended to explain, shoot down, denigrate, or please everyone who ever lived, someone will take it upon themself to read your missive in a way thatcould only be expected by a top lawer. Therefore, to a certain extent, what is the point? It would be interesting to find out how many members are put off using this forum because of negitivity.

It seems there is a hard core of 'top lawers' who love nothing better than to revel in negative comment.

Meanwhile I will go on enjoying anything and everythingthat the Norton Motorcycles UK factory decides to do in a spirit of. 'Just go for it'. Its just a shame that not all in the NOC feel the same way.

I'm personally getting so fed up with the negitivity that I've bought an MG. The worry is, I love it! And boy, what a positive Club!

Kev, as it so happens, I bought a classic car too... 1971 Rover P5B 3.5 litre V8 Coupe.... Guess what? Owners club couldnt be nicer....!

Similarly I own a Triumph ExplorerXC and a 75 Guzzi T3 cafe racer, both of those clubs/forums couldnt be friendlier either. The main diference is that most posters on the Triumph/Guzzi forums actually own a bike relevant to the forum they are posting on and by and large want to share their (mainly) positive views and experiences with like minded owners... Which seems very different to the NOC, in my brief experience of being a member.

I was actually warned about some members of the UK NOC before I bought the 961, both by the dealer and the factory. Im sad to say I think both of them understated the pointless negativity on this forum and to a lesser extent the Access Norton forum. I hardly ever come on here any more, and looking at the amount of posts listed by other 961 owners, neither do many others. Sad really....

My Rover is great though....

Stuart Garner has business interests much broader than Norton motorcycles and made his fortune legit. Errors of employed service providers should not be assigned to the user. As a local to donington I frequently visited both old and new premises and have seen nothing but hardworking honest and enthusiastic workforce. The bike works, it will develop and will go further , I believe they will reach their goals. See you all at the Norton themed Classic TT,

Well there is something good that comes out of negative comments as its something to learn by your mistakes or something thats gone wrong, your all-ways learning, so please do not close your mind by being fed up! shutting your mind off will not solve anything you need to face each day as it comes face to face, yours Anna J Dixon
