Information please.
Hi, I'm off to New Zealand on Tuesday 10th (lucky ol' me) with 3 friends and we are touring for 4 weeks on hired Suzukis (Norton stays at home, sulking). I've just heard that there is a NOC rally in NZ about the time we are over there and it would be great to be able to include it in our itinerary albeit on Suzukis of course. Can anyone give me details.
Thanks Bob Johnson

North Island or South Island or both?
Are you taking your fishing rods? I have read that there is some great trout fishing on the South Island.
We can only dream.
Lucky fellows, have a great trip.

There is good fishing, on both islands, but visitors get " Ripped off". An annual license has to be purchased, even if only staying a few weeks. Residents can buy short term, and family, licenses. Sea fishing is free, but with stringent catch restrictions.

the rally in New Zealand takes place on 20-22nd January at the Dunedin Holiday Park, St Kilda, Dunedin.
If you google Norton Owners Club New Zealand all will be revealed including the booking details.

Many thanks for the replies, I do hope to be able to pick up the rally.
Unfortunately I suspect that we will be in south island at the time of Pukekohewhich is rather sad because I would like to have been able to take it in (but who knows, no great plans for the trip and as an old friend used to say "just a few intentions and we'll see where they take us"). A racingfriend was very fortunate to have been sponsored to ride there a few years ago and says it is a great meeting and an amazing atmosphere.
Unfortunately I'm not a fisherman, but thanks for your info too.
We are starting from Auckland on Friday and touring down through North Island to the South Islandhoping to take in the rally and then to see Bert Monroe's bikes in Invercargil in the far south. Then back up to Auckland for the end of the trip in mid Feb.
So off down to Heathrow this afternoon.
Many thanks again
Bob

If you have time, there is an excellent motorcycle museum at Nelson. (take the scenic route, from Picton ferry terminal, alongside Queen Charlotte sound)

Due to the Ill health of Tom Sturgis, the New Zealand classic m/cycle museum has been sold to the BillRichardson Trust and relocated to Invercargill where it is now open

Urghh ! This is so frustrating. We landin Christchurch on 21st Jan and have 3 weeks in NZ, the first two in South Island.
We could have certainly made it to the Dunedin Rally if we had been aware and planned better.
Anyway, enjoy the rallieseverybody. I toured South Island on a Triumph with my son 5 years ago. Brilliant but watch out for the speed cops. I got caught in the middle of nowhere because some householder rang in and reported a motorcyclist speeding by and the police turned out.
Cheers
Alan

Sorry to hear that Alan.
I was there, last January, and, at that time the museum was still expanding.

I was in the North Island last February / March but then you all know that. Wonderful country, wonderful people and a great culture, not to mention the classic scene in good hands over there and in Australia too.
Looking FWD to meeting up with some of the North Island boys again (& a very nice, helpful Norton man in Australia) and making some new mates in the South Island.
