Hello there,

You require a head gasket to match your barrels and heads. Early engines were the spigotted type; later engines had no spigot. So check what engine you have got and then get the appropriate gasket.

A Navigator is a 60 year old design and most parts are in short supply. What purpose have you in mind regarding improving performance ? A Navigator in good form will get close to 90 MPH and handles quite respectably for it's age; but in reality it is more at home as a pleasant tourer.

hi Patrick many thanks for quick reply, mines a 65 but registered 67?,i will order non spigot,i dont expect great performance from the bike,i bought it for gentle runs with the VMCC,but it has high frequency vibes at around 40 mph and not happy above 50 MPH,the engine seems in good shape, like the rest of the bike,i will be swopping rear sprocket,it has a 56 for a 52 ,this should help a bitalso cant find the frame number looked at footpeg /gusset and head stock many thanks again for much needed advice rob

Hello Rob,

There's loads of good info on this site re Navigators - see JPA's current post (Navigator top end) for the names of some very useful people currently working on navigators. Ulrich H for example has some superb pictures of his extensive rebuild of an early Navigator. Plus Andrew, Nick and Dan etc . Lots of information on the Messages section which is well worth studying.

Anyway you will get it sorted but I feel there is something else wrong with your engine if you are getting severe vibes at 40mph. It could be something simple like badly wrong ignition timing or it could be something bigger like main bearings. I take it you already know 'something' as you are proposing replacing the head gasket.

Good Luck - the weather here is much too nice at present to be inside on a computer.

Surely a 52 tooth rear sprocket is already standard.

Patrick, do you not suspect we have a Jubilee rear wheel and a Navigator engine.

Or is it a late Jubilee frame with an earlier Navigator engine? And Roadholders?

It would be useful if frame number was visible and matched the engine. Both should start 19/**** if Navigator I believe.

Mmmm...
