On my 1959 dominator I have an exposed part of the rear chain near to the gearbox sprocket. With the chain-guard fitted, it doesn't seem to extend forwards enough to cover the area around the gearbox sprocket. I assume I have a piece of tinware missing, but have gone through my spare parts list and cannot find anything that relates. It's maybe something that I can make, but I would dearly like to see a picture of the missing part, get a part number or even know what the piece is actually called.
Below is a picture I copied from google and shows the area I am talking about. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hiyah Bob - I believe that piece depicted is part of the inner primary chain-case. They easily get damaged when a chain snaps or becomes very slack and many got removed by owners who thought repairing them wasn't worth the bother. People building hybrids such as "Norumphs" , "BSAtons" and the like often just cut them off because of chain alignment. Easy to fabricate one and weld it on. Good Luck, Howard

Thanks guys, now I know. Looks like I need to do some more fabrication.

For chain life its most important that spray from the wheel not hit the swing arm and splatter sideways onto the chain. Some mudguards finish short and benefit from a curved mudflap formed with a bit of thick rubber (car tube?) from the bottom of guard thro the swing arm.I don't think that bit of tin protects the chain much, its more likely to protect stray fingers.and alt wiring.

Bob, this part was recently cut from the inner chain case on my 57 Model 50 as the chain guard goes all the way.
Let me know if you want it.
