What's going on here?
I have an early Atlas engine too
With the thread about con-rods and 99's letting go, I am starting o feel vulnerable!

Our Atlas was far too…
Our Atlas was far too vibratory to rev past 4000, The Commando pistons were much heavier than the orriginals , I'm hoping that the measures I have taken will mitigate this. At some time the 750 rods were improved .I'm still of the opinion that most rod failures came in the aftermath of something else, piston seizure ,oil supply ,bad assembly, "nicked" rod faces etc.

I'm pretty sure the 650 and up rods are ok, especially as todays riders are unlikely to be stressing them the same as 'back in the day'.
Just don't rev it to 7500rpm too often!
