Long Road Holders

I have just got a set of long road holders. On stripping them I have found the the top inner rods are missing. Are they missing or were they never there?. I have read that early RH had no dampening if this was the case maybe the rods were not required. If they are required where can I get the rods. There are tapered rods in the sliders.

Thank you.

I just found a picture of long RH. on the web but for some reason it will not let me post it here. The picture shows no rods maybe mine are ok.

Robert, there are no damping rods on long roadholders, just the tapered dampers in the bottom of the sliders. You can fit commando stanchions and dampers with rods if you want to improve the damping. You can then also fit internal springs should you want to.

i saw a pair of complete long roadholders at the Telford autojumble yseterday for £250.

Thanks Dan. I thought I saw a set of Long RHs in a 1950 16H with the top inner rods must have been short ones.

Another bit of clutter for the attic.
