Lining for new steel roadster tanks

Knowing what I know now, Eddie and my experience and that was just with E5, introduced by stealth in 2006/7 I would not line the tank with any kind of resin that can be attacked by ethanol. The hours spent getting the flakes out alone make this not worth it, unless you can stick with E0 petrol. This is what  I do.

With a new tank, I would instead line it thinly with oil,. 2 stroke oil works well for this and can be re-lined when you have the tank off. (A bit of Caster seems to work too, with that wonderful smell as a bonus)

The big problem is that you simply don't know how much E will be added to meet the Green agenda. E80 is not unheard of, known as flex fuel in Brazil etc.

The choice is yours and I'm sure other opinions will be welcomed.

After doing my own research I opted to line my roadster tank. A bit of faff but I was pleased with the result.  My tank subsequently developed a leak (it wasn’t new) and required welding.  That required the lining to be removed which involved having the bottom cut off the tank so it could be shot blasted to remove the liner!  I decided not to reline the tank but to treat it with citric acid every few years should I have a rust problem.
