Is Basset Down a company?…
Is Basset Down a company? Want to reduce overall weight as lighter weight less strain on overall drive chain.

Not sure about your reason…
Not sure about your reasoning. How would it reduce strain? The drive train would be subject to more pronounced accelerations on each power stroke and the bike would most likely be less pleasant to ride. Some years ago an experiment was done using a Scott where the flywheel weight was progressively reduced. It eventually got to the point where the engine would not tick over below 3,000 rpm and the engine was unusable. I would leave well alone.

My 250 single has flywheel…
My 250 single has flywheels which are considered "light" The motor won races straight out of the showroom, it picks up revs in a blink and can be excitng to ride. Its magic round the IOM. Thats it. It does not have a reliable tickover,Its hard to kickover and bump start due to the lack of flywheel effect. Its a royal pain in traffic and no fun on club runs . I love it because its a bonkers beast.Building a race bike?.

You could take the crank to Basset Down and ask them to do it. It would need re-balancing anyway (with rods and pistons) . Can't think why you would do this .
