Just a check please, BSM and assimilator

Forums

I have a 1971 Commando, which has been a stalled project for the last nine months which means that I am a bit haisey on some details.

I have bought A LED BSM and also have fitted an Areg Regulator.

I am proposing to wire the BSM to switched power in place of the original warning light , can I just then remove the assimilator from the circuit, or do the wires to the Assimilator need to go elsewhere?

Many thanks

Hello there Charles

I removed the assimilator from my 1972 750 Commando and just used some heatshrink on to the ends of the unused wires to insulate. No problems to date.

Hope this helps

The Assimilator can be removed and the wires left and made safe as said above. You will have a couple alternator wires and an earth, make them safe. The lamp (white/brn) wire will go to the lamp in the headlamp if you still have it so again make safe both ends if it is still there.

Many thanks, all working now......getting ready for what might easily be the first engine start up on this bike for 10 years or more?
