Inter main bearing fit on shaft??

Not an expert...I hope one will come along shortly... But Loctite bearing fit would probably sort it. It should come back off with a bit of gentle heat when the time comes.

I had the same problem on my -53 engine except that all three bearings

was a sloppy fit. I had the shafts hard chromed and reground, That was

25000 miles ago and no indications of failure yet.

If you do this, you need to make sure that your centres are ok because obviously they are needed for the grinding operation.

Mine were not, and I had a lot of problems getting them corrected !

Loctite might work, but I must say I am very doubtful...

Building up the shaft is a possibility but with one bearing a good fit and the other not so, I'm going to try to find a proper RHP bearing. I'm suspicious of the FBC being not made to spec. Not really sure of its origin.

Everyone should have a read of George's notes, Inter owner or not.

Hey Mike, im sure you have instruments to measure the internal of the bearings but if not carefully fill the centre of the one thought to be oversize with plastacine, putty, or similar. Dress it nicely and remove carefully then sit the other bearing onto it. If it forms a ridge you know there is a problem with the bearing. A little lube may be required to aid removal. I'm with you on Loctite in this application, don't think its a practical solution. Georges notes are like my bible!
