Inexpensive tires for a classic bike.

Forums

Looking at the prices being charged for tyres that very rarely wear out and often are changed thro age , I see that you can get a pair of Servis tyres including tubes and tapes for half the price of the usual offerings . A block tread rear and a ribbed front . Has anyone got experience of these ? . I am quite happy with the level of grip afforded by the Avon SM and Speedmaster , How do they compare?.

... on my ES2 but have to admit it rarely sees wet roads. They seem to perform very well for the gentle use I put them to. I haven't come across Servis.

Like Ian, I use Mitas tyres on my 1955 ES2 and find them perfectly OK for ordinary riding.  I've found that the tyre section is deeper than Avon Speedmasters, making the outside diameter larger, with the result that the centre stand only just lifts the back wheel off the ground.
