I am attempting to fabricate a side stand for the early 1969 commando frame, reading the commando service notes published 1979 by this club it mentions 1969 commando sidestands are featherbed type so to assist can anyone perhaps post a picture of this particular fitment pse? kind regards

thanks for this Jonathan, not quite what I was expecting, my early frame appears to have a flat plate attached in an upright stance inside the l/h lower frame rail and adjacent to the centre stand which on this frame hangs on the lower crossframe tube, this plate protrudes above and below the frame rail and has drillings both above and below the frame tube I believe 'tis to this the stand attaches, with the correct tolerance the stand mount shouldn't crush the tube and would be secured to this flat, could be completely wrong of course kind regards

Here is a Dominator prop stand. It basically clamps around the frame tube crushing it. Also has a flat part that braces against an engine plate to stop rotation.
