Here is a copy of the original factory warranty on a new Jubilee.

Good find.

Hah, even back then the 'weasel words' precluded almost any claim.

I particularly like: "Parts....excluding tyres, seat, chains and electrical equipment."!

Even if you made a claim you had to send back parts for 'examination' and you paid the postage.

Guarantees then were not very good and most manufacturers tended to be very suspicious; notice how all competition use was excluded as well. But on the other hand I have to say that BMC were fantastic with their guarantees; I had a new Morris Mini Cooper in 1961 and this had the engine twice replaced under warranty because the big-ends went. No-one ever queried that I was racing the car and regularly revved it to 7200 !.

The Jubilee will produce fair performance if you rev it to 9000 (but not necessarily for very long).

.........And the dentistry to replace your fillings is also expensive!

They have been made to rev higher than that, but with Japanese pistons and valve springs

dan.
