Finally got the old girl running nicely again, last time she ran was in the eighties. I've concentrated on getting back together I can think about paint later. Please ignore the dexion holding the footrests on, that's temporary, the pegs will go further back when I've altered the rear brake pedal. I don't like the cheap Wassel saddle, it sits too high and isn't comfortable, I think I'll make my own seat.
What I've done -
rebuilt the forks with commando internals
new clutch spider and rubbers along with the engine sprocket to match the offset. New primary chain.
new piston and rings. New valves and guides
replaced oil pressure relief valve
rebuilt mag
cleaned and de rusted the oil tank
made gearbox plates
staightened chain case
converted front wheel to take Norton spindle
fitted decomp cable the right way around!
New front mudguard, but SM mounting and fork brace is a pain, the forks hate any lateral pressure so it has to fit perfectly.
new tank from Terry Weedy.
Lookin' good, Dan.

Certainly looking better Chris! Need a 7/8th pivot clutch lever, it's a bit stiff at the moment but selects gears beautifully.

Good to see that your trials iron is nearly finished. I was surprised to see the Terry Weedy tank, when did you get this, I ordered a tank from him about a year ago but have heard nothing about it being ready. Maybe I should have kept asking about progress. Are you happy with your tank, the workmanship looks good but I wonder if it looks a little long in the photos, there again the whole bike looks long so maybe its just the way the photo turned out.
Best wishes, Tony

I got the tank about a month ago, but I had been pestering him for the best part of a year! He said he was having difficulties with the front mountings which he was finding different on each bike.
He liked me when I said that wasn't a prob for me as mine was a special and a central mounting would be fine,! So he was able to finish it quickly. I don't think it's too long, it fits the frame ok, I've had to mount it back abit to stop the yokes hitting it, the top tube on my frame has a serious bend in it!
On the whole It's not perfect but I'm happy with it, it's going to get used. He also said how busy he is at the moment. U
