ES2 Plunger caps...how do these beauties stay put?

Forums

I finally found a fresh set of new plunger caps, supplied by the good folks at BMH Trading.

Nice to have a set that have not been repeatedly bashed with a hammer for the past 66 years.

My question: they are just a sliding fit. How were they intended to stay put ?

My current plan is to glue them in with a dab of Permatex silicon. ( I should own shares in this stuff !)

Any more enlightened suggestions would be welcome.

They should be an interference fit and are normally hammered in with a soft faced mallet. If your 'sliding fit' is close enough I would have thought your idea would be fine, maybe loctite would do the same.

Cheers,

Ian.
