Dommi 88 Distributor Part

Forums

Hello,

I am restoring my 1959 Dommi 88 and there is a part in the distributor that I need, its between the rotor arm and capacitator.

I hope the upload of the pic works.

Anybody got an idea what its called and where to source it from ?

Thanks

Regards

Din

Bracket that connects the internal capacitor to the live post. Only really needed if you continue using that type of capacitor. If you add an electronic points booster (pazon/Boyer) then the capacitor is redundant,or mount a car type capacitor outside the dissy. It also carries the current from the outside connection to the points post , so a strip of metal needed. Could try The Distributor Doctor .

It looks as though it's just a small piece of bent tin/steel. If so, can you make it?

I belive it is part number 423108 and is called"connector condensor to pillar and is available form the Distributor Doctor.

Great ,glad to be able to help Din, You might also need a new drive pin for the sprocket and a copper washer that sits behind the sprocket, these wear out and can result in the dissy being totally wrecked !!.

Greetings,

Itâs made out of a piece of thin copper strip. An alternative would be to make one out of brass shim, which can be cut with industrialscissorsor of course copper shim if you can get it. An old flat bicycle lamp battery (old 1289) would supply a sustainable source of material!

Encloses a pic of my M-50 distributor for reference, while OK this is a single, I doubt if there is much difference if a single points set and single capacitor which I suspect are used.

Good luck

Rgds Steve

I can supply an18D2 electronic ignition (Boyer) but you will need 12V. Gets away from the rotor and dizzy cap with HT leads as well. Don't be tempted to fit a condenser up with the coil as it will help to burn the points out. A 60s car ignition condenser mounted on the 18D2 body is sufficient.

Screwed up this posting but I hope this goes through! I have what you are looking for and if you want it email me on jnoandlizpowell@yahoo.co.uk. I, myself, have an externally fit capacotor on a distributor. If distributor is in good nick and mounted correctly it can work fine. Have done about 120000 mile on mine and rather like things which you can fix with a screwdriver when far from home, not mysterious electronic boxes.
