Hi, Has any one ever re-lined a damaged set of barrels. I have a blown engine (conrod gone!) I bought it like that... a piece of the skirt is missing & I am wondering should I cut them off and just put liners in. any ideas or are they destined to be a large paper weight!

It is quite s big chunk which is why I was thinking of cutting them off and just having the liner protruding down...

I would speak to a reputab…
I would speak to a reputable machinist about this. Much depends on the material and thickness of the new liner. Spun cast iron is the usual material. Great for low wear, not so good for toughness though. The oscillating loads on the bottom of the barrel are relatively low but still need to be considered.

Depends on how big a chunk is missing. I have had damaged barrels relined and used them with no problems.
