I am fitting a Centre Stand to a Slimline Featherbed. I think I have got all the bits but don't know the fixing points and fitting order.
Is there someone living within a resonable distance of Bishops Waltham, Hampshire who would be prepared to let me visit and view/photograph one in situ?
Regards. Mick.

Hi Mick, take a look at the diagram in the attachment, t's a section through the various parts, both separate and fitted together,

I am not certain and have neither a bike nor parts manual to look into but my memory tells me there is a special part that the spring attaches to fastened to the engine plates. just a simple clip as i recall...

Thanks Rob.
Unfortunately it doesn't show me where the attachment points are.

Other than the stand itself there are only the bolts and the nuts and the spring of course.
The special bolt pn: 16763 (Illus# H81) goes thru the frame, then into the nut and the centerstand hinges on the barrel of the special bolt.
So, you have to fit the stand in place, then holding the nut in place between the frame and the stand, insert the special bolt.
Attach the spring to the frame first as it will be easier to attach the spring to the stand when the stand is in the up position.
Hope this helps
Mike
Thanks Mike.
Unfortunately it doesn't show me where 1) Stand bolt holes are on frame. 2) Spring attachment point is on stand 3) Most importantly, where Spring top attachment point is on Frame or Engine plates. Further clarification would be appreciated.
Cheers. Mick.

Hi Mick, the off-side frame lug is on the top edge of the bottom frame rail about halfway betwen the footrest and the gear lever pivot and the other side is in line with it. The engine plates are the rear ones between the engine and gearbox. Push the largest diameter bolt through the lug from the outside just enough to lodge the nut onto it. Place the centre stand between the nut and the engine plate and push the bolt further in until you can begin to screw the nut on finger tight. Repeat the operation on the other side then tighten the nuts onto the frame lugs. The longer, smaller diameter bolts go though the centre to protrude through the engine plates and washers and nuts clamp the whole assembly together. When fitting the spring keep the stand folded rearwards up to the frame and I have always found that a stout piece of string looped through the top of the spring allows you to both pull the spring upwards and also guide it onto the small peg which fits to the inside top edge of the nearside engine plate to the rear of the engine. I hope that helps,
Regards, Rob

Rob,
thanks for mentioning the peg on the engine plate! I have been trying to picture that assembly all week. yes i know the main concern was the special bolts. the clip mentioned, i think now, is on the bottomfor spring attachment to the center stand itself. probably is not illustrated in the parts manual but it is a two pronged affair that connects to two holes in the center stand , i have it on my 62 Atlas which is 1500 miles away from me at present. someone must still have this set upon their bike i should think. It's a much better design than the troublesome Commando version, isnt it.

Ah! So that is where the U shaped Clip goes. Mick.
