hi could any tell the bearing size for the head race in model 7 plunger.

The part number for these items originally was B2/173. The big name parts suppliers still sell these bearing sets which are for pre-Featherbed frames. I think they come with 5/16" balls.

The later Featherbed frames used a similar cup & cone version but I believe these had a smaller ball size (1/4") and more of them. It was possible, on the Featherbed frames, to convert the cup & cone to a 6205 sealedball bearing. Not sure if this is possible with the Model 7 set-up.

Thanks phil I tried 1/4 balls and it took 22 balls so I stood there scratching my head ,because it only supposed to 17 ball. Will try the other size now.
