Amal Carburetor on Dommie Model 7, '53

Forums

Folks,

I replace the non original carburetor with AMAL 76AK/1AT in my Dommie.

The bore is 1" but the alloy manifold (carburetor to head) is 1" 1/8.

It's normal that manifold is larger than carburetor diameter? or what?

I expect that the manifold is from a Model 99 or even a Model 77.  It is possible that an 1 1/8 inch carb was used with a sidecar on a 600cc but it would be rare on an 88 or other 500cc bikes.  You should easily find a 1 inch or 1 1/16 inch manifold so the step is less.  Good luck, Howard

Howard, thank you for prompt answer.

I check with Norvil expert and the spare part (D2/983) in the their catalog is exactly like mine.

Hope some Dommie "Guru" can add a comment or clarification to my question.

Do the two outlets match the two head port sizes?  I suspect someone will know better, but I believe a small step out ( where carb meets manifold) is a lot better than a small step back in (where manifold meets head).
