1947 Model 18/ES2 Oh dearâ?nuts left over!

Forums

Just completing the reassembly of the bike but I have some bits left over!

I carefully photographed every stage of the process and have a sequence of photos that show the stages BEFORE the nuts were removed and AFTER but NOT where they came from.

The parts in question are 2 nuts, 2 brass washers and 1 spring washer.

I will attempt to upload the photos

Photos 2,3,4 may be in seperate posts

1. Before

2. After, you can see them in the tray

3. I put them in a bag to keep them together

4. Close up of the offending items.

As you can see from the photos, they can't be anything to do with the top end (that's gone).

Iâve had 3 cups of tea while trying to find where they go to no avail.

Once Iâve sorted this problem I can fire up the machine for the first time since the rebuild.

Any ideas?

Regards

Ian

Sadly not.

There is no obvious place for them to go.

The previous owner improvised and has added a few uneccesary extra washers here and there.

I knew I should have labled the packet when I put them in it.

I'm pretty sure that they are nothing to do with anything engine related and probably for attaching a cycle part.

So frustrating ... as I'm itching to fire up the engine.

Mmmm

All sorted.

I contacted the previous owner who identified the extra parts as components of the rear stand.

Having fitted a centre stand earlier this year, I used the rear stand to raise up the bike while working on it.

Stupidly,I put the rear stand nuts in the wrong box !!!!

Phew.

Now I can go to bed

ahh glad to see you got that sorted Ian, no wonder they did not look like any of the nuts from the engine hehe
