16h speedo gear lubrication

Good question. I wonder if this guard plate might be intended to pick up most of what might be flung off. Anything beyond will end up stuck on the back of the brake shoes. Also the speedo gear runs inside and not outside the hub gear, so that must help. Lightly greased is the answer I suppose.

There can be slight contamination; The risk is far greater though from following the manual and using the centre-hub grease nipple at the intervals they suggest !
