Hi all I'm about to rebuild my 1929 model 18 engine, has anyone got any tips on setting up the valve timing gears, there are no timing marks and they all fell out when I removed the cover so I was unable to put my own marks when I stripped it. Thanks Simon.

Hi Simon,
I was in a similar situation so I put a degree disc on the crankshaft and timed the valves as per the attached table. The bike starts and runs, seems to rev well but i've not yet used it on the road. I've attached a picture of my cams as there were a couple of different types. The table attached is taken from a Norton maintenence manual downloaded from www.vintagenorton.com
