Hello,
Can anyone tell me the correct tail light for my 1950 ES2. I understand that it is supposed to be A lucas MT 211 but looking at the dimensions ofa reproduction one, it is much too big to fit. Please see attached photo. The cut out is 1 3/8" in diameter.
Regards, Bill

Hi Bill,
Here is a picture of the tail light on my 1950 ES2, I think it is original but can't be sure. I don't know the Lucas code; Paul Goff's pattern MT211 looks right. Paul's website lists the mounting hole as 45mm diameter. The lens is very small, outer bezel just 30mm diameter. On my bike the bulb is single filament ie no brake light (when did brake lights become compulsory on motorcycles in the UK?) but the image on Paul's website shows 3 wires so I assume that it has the dual filament lamp.

Thanks for info and picture Ian. I see the MT211 on Paul Goff's site is listed as "pattern" so I would have thought original dimensions. I will check again in the morning but think that the 45mm mounting hole diameter is what I have. If so problem solved. Will let you know
Thanks again, Bill
