Elusive con rod

Forums

Please, Can anyone point me in the direction of an ES2 conrod? 7" between centres, likely casting mark E4099. The one in my engine has been "polished" beyond reason.

I've looked everywhere, so feel I have nothing to lose on the forum.

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks, Martin

Thanks Dan, already checked. He has them, but understandably, doesn't really want to separate them from the complete bottom halves he has.

A little frustrating, ( I don't mean Mike) but one will come along I trust. Apart from tracking down some brake lining material, the rod is all I need.

Thanks again, Martin

Martin:

Do you have the part number from the parts book/listing?

What is the year of the bike?

With the part number I will check all my local sources here in Northern California

Thanks Mike,

part number is A3/158 1950 engine.

Having never imported spares from America, might the import costs be prohibitive?

Depends on the replacement value you put on the customs form.

On top of that there is a handling fee so you might be looking at + 40% in total. Just remember we are also talking of the insured value, your choice.

I buy loads of stuff from the states, import duty and handling costs are not really the issue, although they can add 25 to 30% of the cost, I would suggest that any reputable supplier will declare the value as the purchase price. The bigger cost is shipping, USPS costs have risen so much that insured delivery can double the cost. However if you are prepared to take a bit of a risk then a flat rate box which has limited insurance is often good value. Especially if you can fill it!
