Feels like a false first gear...

Forums

Coming down the gear box as I slow down and only from second to first, when I push for neutral or on to first, it feels like itâs already in first gear and the lever pushes down but no gear to select.

All other selections are fine.

I notice when this occurs now and wait and have a second go, ensuring the clutch is fully engaged and then I can select down to first.

I expect something is worn, or maybe some selection adjustment â Iâve not been into the outer gear box cover as yet.

Any ideas please?

Regards â Paul.

I would suggest looking at the following items:

1. Dragging clutch. Often a slightly dragging clutch hinders freeengagement of gears.

2. A weak gearchange return spring partno 040479. This is the spring located in the outer cover, returning the selector quadrant to its starting position.

3. A worn camplate index plunger partno 040034. The index plungers assist in stopping the camplate in exactly the right position for next sequential selection og gears.

Lets hear what you find out.
