Frame repair

Forums

I have a 1971 commando, it looks like someone bolted something to the down tubes (photos attached).
Can this be repaired if so could you recommend anyone to do it?
I have almost stripped the bike down as I would like to get the frame powder coated.
I live in Milton Keynes but happy to travel

Probably crash bars - they were never a good idea.

You can buy new frame sections from Andover Norton:

You could cut out the damaged sections and let in new tube from the AN repair sections. But it might be cheaper to find another frame.

Thanks, I am a bit reluctant to buy another frame as the frame engine and gearbox numbers all match. Hopefully I will find someone to repair it as I don't have the equipment or know-how to repair it

A frame guy should be able to heat that and pull it back into shape with a rod temporarily welded to it. And a bit of hammering.  Maybe a smear of filler then.
