Big grin today...back on this beast after 7 years. Woke up the neighbours on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all who provided helpful comments.
Starting issues had nothing to do with carb. More care with mag timing turned out to be the main issue.
No vibration at the revs I've used round town so far. Lots of Morris 40 on the streets of London today though...
I wonder why the oil tank has no drain plug though...? Not very convenient...

... absolutely gorgeous. Why do things like that never just "arrive" in my garage? I remember that my 16H of many years ago had no oil tank drain plug either though obviously a very different beast.
