Would any body with information or details on construction of a NorImp please e-mail John Hall

He is interested in whether a Wideline or Slimline frame is preferred and if any specialist parts for mounting an Imp engine into a Norton frame exist.

Hello John - It doesn't matter which frame you use ,you will have make theengine platesyourself and you will need a spur gear from the Engine to the gearbox . I used to race a Imp engine in a sidecar but it wasn't fast enough, so we got a Konig engine - then we were 'cooking with gas'! yours anna j dixon

There is no one I know who makes parts for a Norimp, but I have fitted an imp engine to a Norton frame in the past. You'll need to make a set of engine plates with a sump built in - so you remove the old car sump cover and alter the oil feed pickup with filler in, so its in the middle of the engine, then once you have made your engine plates with sump built in it bolt the sump and engine plates to the engine. Next job is to line up the clutch with a spur-gear. At the end of the spur-gear there the second spur-gear to line up with the flywheel sprocket. There will be a need for a 1/4 inch spacer behind the drive sprocket, for a back plate for the end of the engine behind the fly-wheel and for a cut out for the starter motor and bolt holes for same. Then an outer cover has to be made , then you have to make your own exhausts, as you can see there is a lot of work involved, my phone number 01430430831 anytime Hope this helps Yours Anna J Dixon
