Featherbed sidecar fitting

Forums

Canada calling. A good friend passed away before completing his Atlas/Fatherbed/Jet 80 sidecar outfit On behalf of the family I have taken on the project. Part of the challenge is this is a right hand sidecar which presents its own problems. In particular the kick start fouls a normal position for the lower rear bracket which means it will have to be extended back in a dog leg to clear. So far so good. But what is the recommended lower frame bracket fitting point. This would be applicable to both right and left hand sidecar mounts. It looks as if the only place to fit the bracket will be to an extended swing arm pivot bolt, but the frame plate area looks very fragile. Eric Oliver made it work so there is hope. Any advice will be appreciated.

Is not very strong it is a 1/2" Stud. The work shop is very workman like, but why so many wires into the sidecar? it needs only 4, and perhaps a heavy few if you have an extra battery in the chair?

The absence of a strong point fixing for the lower rear sidecar fitting is what concerns me. In the absence of any advice from a Featherbed sidecar person, I guess I will have to ask the experts at Watsonian to see if they have any thoughts. Regarding the multiple wires coming out of the sidecar, if you look carefully at the sidecar wheel you will see a car alternator mounted running on a v belt on the sidecar hub. Neat idea. The previous owner wqas stringing wires from there to the bike. Still hoping for some advice on the rear fitting. thanks for your interest.

Wow car alternator on side car wheel, pretty smart. But seems an excess of wires.

George the original owner had an extremely detailed wiring diagramme featuring many uses, but they will not be used when the sidecar gets finally hitched.
