Terrific roads near Devils Bridge , in fact most of them were terrific to be fair,I’ve seen quite a few 961,s now & TBH I do think there all different, no two the same , lots of quirky differences, so let’s see some pics please , be positive it’s time to ride & get out after all the bad news during the last two years .I covered 960 miles from last Thursday to Sunday proving again that these bikes don’t have to be ornaments, mileage on bike is 26,838 now , I catching up with few fellas at the Andover norton day on Saturday 21st May , so hope to see as many Nortons as possible, May well be virtually every model there .

This was taken by me at the 'Blind Beck' tea rooms in Horton in Ribblesdale with my late dear friend Mick on his Beemer. I have spent a lot of time in 'Taffies back garden' , and one of my many favourite runs is from Devils Bridge (Wales) to Aberystwyth, and another one is from Bettys cow shed to Abergele. I can't spell Betysy Coed.

Commando 961 Owners were well in evidence at our Northants and Leicester Branch's "Open Day" held at the Wharf in Welford earlier in May. It's great to see that 961 Owners are supporting the club!

This was my second 961.  A great bike to ride when it worked but generally less reliable than a chocolate Tea Pot. After just 10 months of ownership, I sold it for only £11 grand to a chap who just wanted one in his collection.  I don't believe that he ever rode it.

Peter.......my second 961 broke down on day three of ownership.  The factory took a week to find a length of kinked breather tubing was the cause of the problem. Possibly the kind of issue that a test run before delivery might possibly have revealed.

I then started to use the bike to get to work, 25 miles away, to help with the 1000 miles of running-in.  How many other new modern bikes have to crawl along at 55 mph for that distance?

The bike constantly let me down by either failing to start in the morning or worse still by taking me to work and then refusing to start for the journey home. The battery kept going flat due to the number of sensors in the system working 24/7 and drawing 0.25 Amp per hour. The factory informed me that they would check the bike out, at the factory, but only if I paid for collection and delivery.

I sold the 961 and bought a Honda NC750X for a third of the new price of the Norton. I kept a diary of my experience with my two 961s.  It runs into 24 pages of A4.
