Threaded hole in sump.

Hi all,

I found in my Model 18, 1947 a threaded hole in the sump, as see in the attachment.

Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of it?

Looking at your photo there appears to be room, in that position, for a sheet filter held in place by a screw or bolt.
